Bail Bonds 101

When a person is arrested, typically a bail amount will be set by the court, which the arrestee will have to pay before being let out of jail.

Up to the Court

The opportunity to post bail is left to the discretion

of the court presiding over

that jurisdiction.

Securing Release

After bail has been set, the bondsman will pay it and secure the release of your family member if you are negotiating

for a family member.

Surety Loan

A Bail Bond is considered

to be a surety loan or bond.

Excessive

Amounts

The Eighth

Amendment protects

Americans from

bail amounts that
